FUN, FUN, FUN!

I had such a wonderful time working at one of my best friend's niece's and nephew's birthday party this weekend! I hadn't worked in a while so it was great to get back into the groove of face painting :) I got to try a couple new designs but as you will see Batman and the flower crown were the most popular!

My best friend David!

Somebody almost fell asleep :)

Such a beautiful baby!

My set up - looks a lot neater before I start, of course.

Happy Valentines Day!

Its amazing how quickly time flies, right? I cannot believe that we are in February now and that Valentines Day is next week! Eeek! I am truly happy though that we are in a new year especially since I ended 2012 on a very bad note. Sadly, my beloved friend of 12 years passed in November, the day before my birthday! It was by far the most painful experience I have ever lived and there is not one day that I don't think about him. After experiencing this, I realized that your soul-mate does not have to be a human being like your significant other but simply a true and loyal friend. Baby, my beloved mix terrier, connected with me in a way that I cannot explain and his passing shattered my world. These past few months without him have been really hard  but I feel his presence with me all the time and I do know that he is in a better place. It also helps that I welcomed a new member into my family! Maki, a beautiful little pooch, has come into my life to make it so much better. Somehow I feel that she knows that my heart aches because she is one of the most lovable dogs I have ever met! She was born ten days before Baby died and the crazy part is that she resembles him...maybe its just me but her piercing eyes tell me he is there.

Maki has inspired me with so much love that I found it to be appropriate to post something for Valentines! This is still a pretty slow face painting season for me but I love to practice at home and ask my sister to be my canvas, I mean model :) As you can see, there is nothing better than to paint hearts and more hearts! I seriously love it! Hope you like the pictures below and that you enjoy this season of love, which includes EVERY single member of your family even those little furry beautiful creatures we cannot live without! XOXOXO

Special Event with Yolotzin

The Ballet Folklorico dance group, Yolotzin, from East Chicago, Indiana had a Dia de los Muertos-themed fundraising event yesterday and I was so happy to be a part of it! One of the parents asked that I face paint sugar skulls on all of the dancers and I have to say, it was SO much fun!!! To be honest, I was quite nervous because I had to work super fast but at the same time make sure that each design was different and detailed enough to capture the attention of guests. Everyone was pleased with my work so I think I accomplished my goal :)

Although the girls were the stars of the event, I was treated like I was VIP! Everyone was so pleasant and friendly that it felt like everyone was a big family. I was so honored to work with this group and I am so grateful that I was introduced to so many great people, including the girls, the parents (Veronica THANK YOU!), and Margaret the dance instructor. I have been invited to continue working with them and I truly look forward to their future events. Enjoy these pictures!

The following pictures were taken by one of the parents, Eliseo Maya. Thank you for sharing these with me!

Halloween 2012 FUN!

One of the "holidays" that most face painters look forward to is Halloween and I have to say that I completely agree!!! It is such a fun and memorable occasion where pretty much anything goes! I was asked to work at a kids' Halloween Party this weekend and I am not sure who had more fun, the kids or ME!!! They were all sooo adorable in their costumes and I just had such a great time enhancing their look :) Here are a few pictures from yesterday's event:

The CUTEST Princess EVVVEEERRRRR!!!!

Since I always like to prepare before an event that has a particular theme, I put the following portfolio together to provide some ideas for designs. But of all of these, I think I only painted the pumpkin and spider designs. Most of the kids told ME what to do, which is completely fine because they are my customers...and I do as they say! :) :) :)

Finally, a very special person who has supported me since I started face painting requested that I paint a modern-warrior look to compliment her costume. Inspired by some other designs we found on Youtube, I created her make up below. For being the first time I ever did something like this, I was very pleased with the final results. She got a ton of compliments...I mean, she's such a beautiful person to begin with that she truly was the perfect model for this look!
