Special Event with Yolotzin

The Ballet Folklorico dance group, Yolotzin, from East Chicago, Indiana had a Dia de los Muertos-themed fundraising event yesterday and I was so happy to be a part of it! One of the parents asked that I face paint sugar skulls on all of the dancers and I have to say, it was SO much fun!!! To be honest, I was quite nervous because I had to work super fast but at the same time make sure that each design was different and detailed enough to capture the attention of guests. Everyone was pleased with my work so I think I accomplished my goal :)

Although the girls were the stars of the event, I was treated like I was VIP! Everyone was so pleasant and friendly that it felt like everyone was a big family. I was so honored to work with this group and I am so grateful that I was introduced to so many great people, including the girls, the parents (Veronica THANK YOU!), and Margaret the dance instructor. I have been invited to continue working with them and I truly look forward to their future events. Enjoy these pictures!

The following pictures were taken by one of the parents, Eliseo Maya. Thank you for sharing these with me!

Halloween 2012 FUN!

One of the "holidays" that most face painters look forward to is Halloween and I have to say that I completely agree!!! It is such a fun and memorable occasion where pretty much anything goes! I was asked to work at a kids' Halloween Party this weekend and I am not sure who had more fun, the kids or ME!!! They were all sooo adorable in their costumes and I just had such a great time enhancing their look :) Here are a few pictures from yesterday's event:

The CUTEST Princess EVVVEEERRRRR!!!!

Since I always like to prepare before an event that has a particular theme, I put the following portfolio together to provide some ideas for designs. But of all of these, I think I only painted the pumpkin and spider designs. Most of the kids told ME what to do, which is completely fine because they are my customers...and I do as they say! :) :) :)

Finally, a very special person who has supported me since I started face painting requested that I paint a modern-warrior look to compliment her costume. Inspired by some other designs we found on Youtube, I created her make up below. For being the first time I ever did something like this, I was very pleased with the final results. She got a ton of compliments...I mean, she's such a beautiful person to begin with that she truly was the perfect model for this look!

Pink Party for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Yesterday I had the opportunity to do a little bit of painting at the Pink Party hosted by the Society of Women Engineers at UIC. The purpose of this event was to raise breast cancer awareness among female engineering college students. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this was the perfect venue to host an event of this nature and I was very proud to be a part of it!

These are some of the designs I had specifically worked on for this event:
